We chatted to our friends at Dell about some of the hottest tech gadgets for women coming out this year. And boy, did we get excited!

From a streaming stick that let’s you watch your favourite episode of Sex and the City from anywhere you can get Wi-Fi and a flat surface, to a device that allows you to control your front door from anywhere in the world. And how about a mobile phone that’s powered by the most common AA batteries so you’ll never get stuck with a dead phone in the middle of nowhere?

3M Streaming Projector by Roku

This is a great way to get your cinema fix. This gadget lets you watch your favorite movies the way they were meant to be seen, i.e. as large as life. The projector, powered by the Roku streaming service, can show movies on a big screen – wherever you want to put that big screen. Just insert the Roku streaming stick and then turn it on to project your movies and shows on a big wall, the side of the house, or anywhere else you have a Wi-Fi connection and a flat surface. Fitbit Wireless Activity Tracker

Most of us have probably already given up on our goals for the New Year, but for those who are sticking to their plans to get in shape, this gadget is made to help people track their progress. You can log the recommended 10,000 steps each day by attaching Fitbit to your clothes, and use it to determine how many calories you’ve burned and the distance you’ve traveled. The information is automatically uploaded to your online profile which helps you track your progress over time. More here

Whether you live in the city surrounded by apartments or out in the ‘burbs, it’s natural to be concerned about our homes when we’re away. All you have to do is forget to lock the door once and it could lead to serious problems. Lockitron, however, is a simple device that fits over your deadbolt lock and lets you access it via your smartphone. Lockitron replaces keys with your phone.  You can instantly grant family, friends and guests access to your home or business from anywhere in the world using your internet enabled smartphone. The release of Windows 8 has made the touchscreen desktop a real option. The new all-in-one desktops are pretty sleek, and since the new user interface was designed with tablets in mind this is the easiest way to navigate through the apps, programs, pictures, messages, and everything else that comes streaming through your system on an average day.

Nest Learning Thermostat

This device saves time and money. It is an advanced thermostat that actually senses when you’re home and when you’re away and then automatically adjusts the temperature in the house accordingly. So far, customers have been saving up to 20% on their heating and cooling bills because they don’t have to remember to set and reset their preferred settings when they spontaneously leave for a couple days. SpareOne Emergency Phone

It is all too easy to lose a mobile phone or for the battery to die with you miles from the nearest possible outlet to recharge it. The SquareOne phone was made to run on the strength of a single AA battery and can be used anywhere, as long as you’re within range of a tower. Lytro Camera

Take a picture that’s a lot more than what you would normally get on your phone. The Lytro camera actually lets you take pictures now and then focus them whenever you feel like it.
